Ian graduated from Bristol University in 1993 with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering and went on to gain an MSc in the Management of Intellectual Property Law from London University. He joined A.A.Thornton & Co. in 1994 and became a partner in 2001. He qualified as a Chartered Patent Attorney and European Patent Attorney in 1998 and as a Registered Trade Mark Attorney in 2000. Ian is involved in contentious and non-contentious work, spanning the full spectrum of intellectual property law, including trade marks, registered designs and patents.  His primary case load concerns trade mark prosecution and enforcement, as well as related issues such as intellectual property portfolio management and domain name dispute resolution proceedings.
