Michael Gill-Carey

Michael graduated from the University of Bath with an honours degree in Chemistry in 1998.  He spent his third year working in the pharmaceutical industry for GlaxoWellcome.  Michael went on to complete his doctorate in organic chemistry for his work on catalytic enantioselective desymmetrising palladium cross-coupling reactions and studies towards an enantioselective synthesis of Epibatidine, also from the University of Bath in 2002.

In 2003, Michael joined Pfizer to work in their manufacturing plant in Loughbeg, Co. Cork, Ireland as a process chemist.  His work involved the transfer of a new manufacturing product from R&D.

In 2004 Michael took the MSc in the Management of Intellectual Property at Queen Mary University in London.  After graduating in 2005, he joined the Frankfurt department of Procter and Gamble’s European Intellectual Property group to train as a European Patent Attorney.  The Frankfurt department dealt with absorbent article technology.  Michael was involved in all aspects of European Patent Office practice as well as providing freedom to operate opinions for new absorbent article products.   Michael joined the chemical department of the London office of A.A. Thornton & Co. in 2007 to continue his training towards qualification as a European Patent Attorney and a Chartered Patent Attorney.
