Domain Name Scams

Owners of Intellectual Property Rights are increasingly targeted with unsolicited mail relating to domain names.

Common scams involve emails purporting to be from a domain name registrar advising you that a third party has tried to register your trade mark as a domain name and offering you the opportunity to register it yourself.

These emails often claim that you need to act fast in order to preserve your rights and set deadlines of only a few days, this is to prevent you from carrying out investigations.

If you receive such unsolicited mail you should check carefully the source of the correspondence and what services you are being offered.
