From 1st January 2024, not having a UK address for service could compromise your UK Registered Trade Marks and Designs.
The UK Intellectual Property Office (UKIPO) has issued a directive for trade mark and registered design owners, requiring a UK Address for Service for post-registration matters from 2024. This applies to all matters excluding renewals.
The requirement for a UK Address for Service means that EU firms are no longer able to represent you in UK, so owners of Cloned UK Trade Marks must act fast to appoint a UK Attorney as their UK Address for Service. This follows the UK’s separation from the EU Trade Mark and Design System.
To help you navigate this change, AA Thornton will become your UK Address for Service free of charge in most circumstances. Managing your UK Trade Marks has been made simple — submit the enquiry form now, and one of our IP specialists will contact you within the next working day.
